Re: Legal downloading in China

Ask a Chinese lawyer -- any downloading outside of the US is beyond the reach of US copyright law. Best to wipe them off your drive if you re-enter the US with your computer, however....

Best wishes,

Re: Legal downloading in China

I tend to be rather cautious and believe that the fed can reach out and touch you any time they want for almost any reason. So I would say that you should focus on what you have heard about the site you download from and whether you really believe that they pay what they are required to pay for the right to let you download that content. I told my friends to stop using AllOfMP3.com before they were sued simply because we all read about the issues with them and can't honestly claim we weren't aware of the possible violations. I wouldn't lose sleep over this unless you come back to the US or if you are violating Chinese law. We can give you a free referral to a Chinese attorney/firm if you're interested.
