Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Buy out

I own a house with my ex-husband. And I do not want to wait for him to sell it. Can he buy me out? If so how much should I ask for?

Re: Buy out

You can buy him out if he will sell. You should demand and get 1/2 of the net value of the property. If he does not want to sell to you, or if he is slow walking the sale, then file and ask the court to partition the property and have it sold. You can not be forced to own property with another person and certainly do not have to wait for someone else to sell it.
