Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

If I put $10,000 down and payed all of the notes, insurance and upkeep on a rent to own home for seven and a half years, without a written contract, and now they have changed their mind and want us to leave, do we have any legal recourse?

That is a sticky issue and you should talk to a lawyer. I would think you have a very strong case to at the very least get your "deposit" back, if not a good portion of the money you paid over the years. You might even be entitled to damages, but there are some things that are going to go against you as well. You should talk to a lawyer in your area who handles property law.
