Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

we are tryung to purchase the property next us. the homeowner passed away aout 7-9 years ago. his only daghter lives in texas. after speaking with her, she has not opened succession on that property. what will be involved as far as taxes that is owed and the like?

The daughter will have to open a succession and get a judgment of possession putting the daughter in possession of the immovable property. Depending on when the owner died, there may be no inheritance taxes due the state (inheritance taxes were abolished in 2004). You need to determine whether or not the homeowner died with or without will, but the process of putting the daughter into possession of the property should not be too complicated
