Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

My attorney wants me to sign a mortgage bond for my father estate does this give him any power over the estate? Do I need to have the court oversee my executive duties since there is no one contesting my appointment?

A succession representative is sometimes required by the court to post bond to protect the other heirs or legatees.
