Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Has the file been closed out?

How can you tell if everything is over and the file is closed out in an estate? Are the money accounts distributed prior to the sale of the property? And what is the last entry to determine that it is over and completed?

Re: Has the file been closed out?

A Louisiana succession is usually concluded by the filing of a Judgment of Possession. Money or property can be distributed by means of such a Judgment. The task of distributing the assets divided by the judgment falls to the Executor of the Estate. If an Estate is subject to administration, the succession is concluded by the filing of a Tableau of Distribution which is provided to all of the heirs and legatees. I hope this answers your question.
