Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

The house I live in is in the name of myself and my deceased spouse. I am remarried but he (the deceased) had one child (from a different marriage). Is a succession required for me to sell my home since this is a community property state?

You will have to open your deceased spouse's succession in order to sell the house.

If the total value of the house is less than $150,000, you may be able to do this by affidavit, and avoid court costs.
