irs debt

If a person dies owing the IRS, does the person inheriting the residential property become responsible for the IRS debt; If so, how is this debt paid. Is it paid through seizure or voluntary payments?

The debt to the IRS remains an obligation of the decedent's estate. In Louisiana, heirs usually accept a succession with benefit of inventory which means that they do not agree to personally assume debts of the decedent. The debts are paid out of the succession assets.
