Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

Louisiana Wills

We are a married couple in Louisiana with a minor child looking to create wills for both of us. Are we limited to a certain type of will because we live in LA? Are these wills offered on the lawguru site for purchase and what are they titled? Thanks.

Re: Louisiana Wills

Louisiana had two types of wills: olographic and notarial. An olographic will is hand-written. The only formal requirements are that it be written, dated and signed by the testator.

The second type is a more formal will. It is signed before a notary public and two witnesses.

Since you have a minor child, I would highly recommend that you have an attorney prepare the will, so that the minor's interests can be protected.
