Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

How do I obtain a deed to property willed to me from my mother?

My mother passed away 11 years ago. She left a will identifying myself and my sister as responsible parties of the property. I have lived on the property prior to my mom's death and continue to live there now. I have other siblings who already have their own property and they agree to granting me ownership of the house and a section of the property it stands on. What procedures must I take to obtain a deed to the section I am living on. I live in St. Tammany Parish, Louisina and have no idea where to start. Please help me with this question.

Contact the Clerk of Court in St. Tammany Parish. The deed should be filed in the Conveyance Records.

If you have not yet opened the succession, the easiest way to handle this situation would be to have each of the other heirs execute an act renouncing their interest in the succession. The, when the succession is opened, you would be the only interested heir and the title to the property would be placed in your name as a result of the Judgment of Possession entered in the succession proceedings.
