You have not provided sufficient information to give a specific answer.

First, a woman has the right to choose who is in the room with her. As the patient of the hospital she has full rights as to who comes and goes. She as well can opt out of people knowing about her stay at the hospital. The father of the child, relatives, and friends have absolutely no rights. Only the patient has rights. This applies even if you are married.

In Maine, if parents are married the father automatically considered the legal father and should be listed in the birth certificate. In the case of unmarried parents, either parent may choose to go to court for legal paternity establishment. If the mother receives Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (formerly AFDC) or opens a case with the Division of Support Enforcement and Recovery (DSER) Office, DSER may refer the case to court for legal paternity establishment, which may include genetic paternity testing.
