Unfortunately, Florida is an at-will state, which means that your employer can legally terminate your employment for any reason at any time--this means a good reason, a bad or false reason, or no reason at all. As a result, there's not much you can practically do if they choose to terminate your employment, but if they fight an unemployment claim or provide a knowingly false employment reference, you should seek formal counsel.
