Legal Question in Employment Law in Maine

verbal contracts

I took a job for a three year deal as a general contractor for a private family. There was supposed to be a contract where all the details were woked out, specifically the length of the job.The job started without having a contract in hand on good faith.Im 16 months into the job and was informed that because my boss has personal problems(mental)my job will be ending Jan. 07 which is 16 months short of our original agreement.Do I have any rights to have them give me a severance package to compensate me for the time I planned working for them?

Re: verbal contracts

You have a breach of contract claim. You performed in accordance with it, so it avoids the Statute of Frauds issue. WHat was total value of contract to you if completed?
