Legal Question in Social Security Law in Maine

I'm 59 yrs old. Among other ailments my feet and knees are giving out on me really bad at work.I need every dollar of my pay for bills. Is it possible to go from full time employment one week directly to Social Security Disability the following week?

I'm sorry that you are having to struggle to survive with all of the physical and financial issues. There are many other questions that stem from your question. The short answer is "yes", it is possible, but only if you qualify as "disabled" under Social Security law. If your doctor supports your applying, essentially taking the position that you are unable to have substantial gainful employment for 12 months or more, then you should apply for SS Disability (SSDI).
