When does a preliminary injunction expire?

How long is a preliminary injunction (with no expiration date noted on the court order) valid for?

I need more information here about the nature of the injunction. I will give a short overview:

A preliminary injunction is granted after opportunity for a full adversary hearing on the propriety of its issuance but before a final determination of the merits of the action.

In general it should expire once the court makes a final determination on its merits.
