Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

My room mate is not paying her half of our monthly rental fee. I have been covering ofr her but it's starting to put me in debt. We are both on the lease, which has 4 more months to run.

Should I continue to pay my portion and would a registered letter to the landlord and to my room mate give me any protection?

Keep proof of your payments and sue your roommate.

You can sue now for what you've already paid and later on for the remainder after you file suit or wait the four months to sue for everything.
