Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

Wage Garnishments

My employer just informed me that they will be garnishing my wages for a debt that I own. He said that they will be taking 75% of my pay. That is a lot of money, I am a single mother of a son, if that much is taken I will not be able to support him. Is my employer misinformed ????

Re: Wage Garnishments

A wage garnishment should not exceed 25% of your disposable income, except for certain categories of debts that may be higher (taxes, child support, etc.)
