Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

5 yrs ago I was caught shoplifting in Macy's and I had my sister and friends IDs in my bag so when they arrest me they charge me with theft and identity theft...I went to court and pled guilty ...I don't remember if I did pled guilty but I find out I did...here's my question to you...I haven't been in trouble since and I turn my life around and went to nursing school and graduate but I can't get a job because I have a record...I went to court to have it exsponge but the judge said because I pled guilty they can't expunge my record...is there anything you can do for me

If you had a lawyer who did not advise you about probation before judgment, or if the court did not properly qualify you when the plea was taken, then you might have a basis to challenge the original conviction via coram nobis. Be prepared that doing so might be time-consuming and expensive, and there are not guarantees that you will prevail.
