a group of 3 guys decides to take a ride in a neighborhood that is under surveillance and physically attacked an individual in his vehicle right outside my home. what type of charges can be filled against these men?

Assault, battery. It depends on how severe the beating was -- attempted murder, murder (if the person died). Was the person sexually assaulted? You can add rape, sodomy, etc. You need to give more facts to receive a more specific answer.
