Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Not Sure

New Law?? Goes something like the courthouses sends over criminal convictions involving a motor vehicle to the DMV and it is an automatic 12 points on your license which in turn revocates your license. I have no idea the meaning to this law and the guidelines to it and I need help because I am one of the ones it happened to. I was on probation but got off a year early and completed my drug/alcohol classes also, so I don't think this should apply to me. PLEASE HELP cause I can't find the law anywhere to answer my quesion. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Not Sure

There are many traffic crimes that carry 12 points for a CONVICTION (and automatic revocation, unless you request an MVA hearing). They are things such as a DUI, Driving on a Suspended License, Driving Without Insurance and many more.

If you were granted probation before judgment, the points would not show up, unless you violate your probation and the judge strikes the PBJ.

Re: Not Sure

A conviction for an offense with 12 points will result in action by the MVA. If you completed the requirements of a judge's order under a PBJ then you are not convicted. Without knowing where each process is I cannot answer your inquiry. Contact me to discuss.
