Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

If a man is convicted of a crime and then serves a prison sentence for that crime, is he able to be re-prosecuted for said crime? I have been told that "double jeopardy" is an "8th grade legal education" idea, so any help you could give me would be great. Thank you!

Conviction or acquittal usually bars retrial. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help you evaluate the prosecution's case, any defenses that you might have, and any plea offer that might be made, so that you can decide whether to go to trial. Consider seeking a confidential consultation.
