Legal Question in DUI Law in Maryland

DUI from 23 yrs ago.

23 yrs ago my husband got a DUI in Maryland, he lived in FL at the time, and never showed up for court. Now he can't get his DL renewed because of this, but we don't know how to resolve it, since we live in FL. We have no idea where to start, I've tried to contact a couple of lawyers in Maryland, but haven't heard back from them.

Re: DUI from 23 yrs ago.

Hello: Before you hire a lawyer up there, you might want to contact the Clerk of Court for the County where the case is. Ask them to give you any info they have. They may have destroyed the file since the case is old. You may also want to contact the State Attorney's Office for that

County to ask what, if any, info. they have. If no one has a file, the State will need to dismiss the case. You would need something in writing and certified by the Clerk's Office to take to the Fla. Motor Vehicle Dept. to get a license. Good luck. Tom Rosenblum. Jacksonville, Fla.

Re: DUI from 23 yrs ago.

Need to check to see if there is an outstanding warrant, then speak to the State to see whether they wish to pursue the matter after this time - may not have evidence of witnessees. Until this is done, his record will remain tarnished. I am a member of the National College of DUI Defense - so if I can help you any further, please contact me.

Since each person's situation is different, it would be impossible and unethical to give legal advice without a full conference as an attorney/client relationship would require, obtaining in-depth facts particular to that case.
