Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

When does Child support end

There is no mention in my divorce decree about when child support is to end for my children. I have 3 children. My daughter turned 18 in 1998, due to the costs of getting a modification, and the fact that the support would not have diminished very much, I chose not to have it modified then. My son will turns 18 in 12 months and at that time I will have the support modified to support my 1 remaining child. If my oldest children become full time students, will I have to continue paying support payments past their 18th birthday?

Re: When does Child support end

The age of majority for child support in Maryland is 18 except under certain exceptional circumstances. If your child support order or agreement had set forth the amount of support per child, or had provided automatically for a reduction upon the attainment of majority for each child, you wouldn't be faced with this problem now. The fact that your children are still students doesn't entitle them to support unless there was an agreement between you and the mother to provide such support.
