Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

seperated for 13 yrs

I have been seperated from husband for 13 yrs. we were both close to 40yrs old..children all grown..no property's..nothing of value to divide.. neither could afford a divorce.....husband now has medical issuses and has applied for government assistance, why are they asking for my info..can they ask me to pay for him??? I have been disabled since 1993 with MS, I am receiving SSI payments.....can they ask for my bank statements of the past 5 yrs??? Don't they know I can not have more than $2000.00 in my posession at any time.can I make them stop hassling me and do more for him???

The information is being requested because you are still legally married. I suggest you contact the agency seeking the information and ask them to explain your exposure (which is probably none, since you also receive government assistance) if he's awarded benefits. If you're not at risk, you can provide the information.
