Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

DO I have a case?

I have a situation where I believe I am due compensation for work/services completed for family member whom I lived with for several years. This work was above and beyond the rent and utilities I already paid. Many verbal agreements made have not been full filled and I was wondering if I have a legal case that would allow me to recoup what I feel is owed to me.

Re: DO I have a case?

Did you and the family member have an agreement as to what work you would do and how you would be paid? I assume you have nothing in writing. Thus it would be your word against the family member as to whether you were entitled to be paid for this work. He/she might say it was part of your rent and that they could have rented the place for a lot more but gave you reduced rent in exchange for the performance of services. The fact that this went on for several years and you never received any compensation but kept performing the services would tend to support that version against yours.
