Is it right for my employer to fire me for insubordination while keeping another employee who is also guilty of insubordination?

Employers have the right to do almost anything including what you described above. What employers can't do is discriminate by keeping the other individual(or getting rid of you) SOLELY because of race, sex/gender, in Maryland sexual orientation or fire you because you have a disability, that you refused to do something illegal or for a reason that is against public policy like going to vote or jury duty.
