Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

My ex girlfriend used to have the password to my email acount and went into the account and read personal emails and printed out conversations I held with other people, IM conversations and sent them to herself. For the past few months she has been sending my friends these conversations attempting to "reveal" the type of person I am and recently sent a mailing package to my mom including a letter and all of these converations she took out of my account. Some of these conversations beingvery vulgar and sexual in nature. Since she has been doing this a lot of relationships with my firends have been faulting and I lost one of my best friends because of the way she is building me to other people because she does not like me. I have since changed my password but all of the damage has been done. This would not be considered defamation nor slander but I am almost positive that this is an invasion of privacy in some way.

Consult a Maryland lawyer. That lawyer can write her a stern "cease and desist letter" to stop. If that doesn't work the lawyer may be able to go to court and obtain an "injunction" (an order from a judge to stop doing something, in this case from giving out your private conversations) against your ex-girlfriend. If the order is issued by the judge and she continues to do so, she can be held in contempt of court and put in jail, fined, etc.

It goes without saying, don't give ANYONE your passwords for now on.

Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
