Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Our mother, who recently passed away, sold property to a couple about six years ago. Everything was done according to county ordinances and legally. This couple has been sued and harassed by the adjoining property owners multiple times in the past few years over issues surrounding the local road these properties are accessed by. Each time the cases have been resolved in the first couple's favor. They are being sued yet again and are now in turn, suing our mother's estate wanting, in effect for the sale to be negated, I suppose trying to infer the sale wasn't legal at the time it occurred. They are asking for the amount they paid plus more for damages, I assume. Do they have a legitimate cause for suing us? I understand that they want to get rid of this land, and therefore also the repeated law suits they have been forced to defend themselves against, but would they have any grounds for pursuing this?

Based on the brief set of facts you provided, it appears your family acted legally by selling the property. Indeed, if the couple had lost the cases, there may have been cause for concern. However, more information is needed regarding the allegations of the couple to advise you further. You should consult with an experienced real estate lawyer in the area.
