Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Massachusetts

I am eighteen years old (will be nineteen in September) and I am graduating from high school this year. I am romantically involved with someone who turned sixteen this past February. We have not had sex... we haven't even kissed. We want to be together and start actually dating. We're both girls, by the way.

My question is can we kiss? Is that legal? Sex isn't something we would be doing for a long time anyway, so I'm not concerned abut that. Her parents don't approve of her sexuality or the age difference. Am I doing anything illegal and what would be considered illegal? If there is anything illegal, how long do I have to wait before it's legal?

I've done my research and I've found that because she is sixteen it's not illegal.

please help, I'm so confused and I want to be able to have proof that we can legally date each other.

If you want a guarantee you don't get that for free. in other words, don't rely on legal advice you did not pay for. In most cases the age of consent is 16. Like all legal rules there are exceptions and qualifications. Best luck, JBS
