Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts

My dog has always been my best friend. When he died I had him cremated. Is it legal in Massachusetts to ask the his ashes be buried with me when my time comes?

Generally speaking, you can ask that any item be buried with you when you pass. I know of people who have been buried with dancing shoes or expensive bottles of scotch with them. As long as the container for your pet's ashes will fit within the casket with you, you should be fine. You should make sure to tell your loved ones about this request, or put it into your pre-planning funeral documents. If it is in your WIll, it will not be seen until after you are buried.

Good luck -
