Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts

My estranged 68 year old brother is dying from a stroke. The hospital has called me to be next of kin. If I do so, will I have to pay his medical and other bills? Will I have to pay his funeral expenses. He has been under the care and responsibility of state of Mass for over 15 years.

No. Any debts of the estate will be paid (or not) from your brother's assets at his death. Best of luck -
