Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Husband and I are divorcing. House is ordered to be sold. Tax lien on property for a small piece of property that happens to fall in another town...we are billed separate from our main tax bill. This smal tax bill hasnt been paid for 7 years and is going for auction soon. It is only 390.00. Can someone buy thatt tax lien and take over the home?

They will take tax title to the small lot not your entire home based on what you have said. I cannot be sure of anything without looking at the tax title notice and the deed to your home. The problem is that the loss of that little lot could impact the sale of your home if it reduces frontage to the street or your ingress or egress over an access point.

Assuming you can afford the $390. I would pay it and include it as part of the sale of the home.

Good Luck.
