Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

Green Card option

Hi,

I am a Physical Therapist (PT). I completed my education in INDIA. Currently i am in Massachusetts, on H4 status. I am about to complete my credentialling for PT licensure for the state of MA. This is likely to get completed by Aug 08.

Hence, I will be missing this year's H1 application date (April 08).

As i understand, I have either of two choices below:

1) Wait to apply for H1 next year (April 09) OR

2) Get an employer who is willing to apply for my Green Card

With reference to the same, I wanted to know the following and check if i need a consultation on the same:

1) How much time it takes for a licensed PT on H4 status to get a Green Card?

2) Am I eligible to apply for a Green Card directly from H4 status OR do i need to get an H1 first?

3) What are the costs / fees for getting a Green Card?

4) What documentation is required from myside and employer's side?

I understand that labor certification is not needed for PT's. Kindly note i do not have any work experience.

Would appreciate if you could answer the above questions.

Thanks in advance

Re: Green Card option

Hi. It may be best if you call me to discuss your questions since it may be a bit much to answer over email. However, one thing you should note is that it MAY be possible for you to file for an H-1 this year. Depending on your degree and transcripts we may be able to find a position at the same company. But again, this is something we should discuss over the phone in detail. Call me up and we'll see what we can figure out in 5-10 minutes.
