Perminent Residence

How long do I need to remain married in order for me to become a preminent residence of the US? Unfortunately , I have only been married for three years and my husband wants a divorce.

Re: Perminent Residence

It depends. Did your spouse ever submit a visa petition on your behalf? When and how did you enter the USA? We would need more details regarding your case in order to better assess your situation. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss further.

Re: Perminent Residence

Married couples can apply for permanent residence through a process known as an adjustment of status.

Your situation depends on whether you have already applied and been granted conditional residence through this process or not.
