Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

employment hold up

The company I work for as a temp wants to hire me. As part of a background check they need to verify my past employment and have left 5 messages with HR at my old job that haven't been returned. I was at that job for 7years, have all my W2 tax forms & paystubbs, left on good terms and know the company is still in business and that their numbers are valid. If I don't get hired because my past employer wont confirm I worked there is there any legal action I can take?

Re: employment hold up

No. You should try harder to get them to respond, but they are under no legal obligation to do so.
