i am salesperson changing jobs.. can i be sued for working with my old clients in a new similiar job

You don't mention whether you signed a contract with your current employer. If you have a 'non-compete' contract or a 'non-compete' clause in your employment contract, you should take it to an attorney to learn more about your options and potential risks.
