Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

i have worked for Delta Airlines since 1985

last December i was accused of making threat and got a letter in my file and a 3 year probation for my alleged behavior.

2 weeks ago a TSA agent snuck by me while i was working an active flight and got access to aircraft i did notice agent as he was coming back from aircraft. I was suspended for that also

and today i was just told i will be let go and that I have 24 hours to ether retire or be terminated.

things like this have happened before to other employees and no one to my knowledge has ever been suspended or fired I am 50 years old and i believe my company just wants to get rid of me

If your company, or in this case your supervisors, want to get rid of you there is no way you can really stop them. I assume your are an employee at will and unless they have violated internal procedures as outlined in their handbook or in company policy book, there is no way to stop them from terminating you. As for your retiring, I do not know if you can retire at 50 unless they allow it under their pension and other plans.

If you are covered under a union contract, the first thing to do is to contact the union. I presume you are not, since you did not seek assistance with the probation.

If you believe they are trying to retire or fire you because you are at the top of the pay scale and have seniority, there could be a case however proving it will be difficult. I suggest you contact a labor attorney as soon as possible.
