Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Inheritance/Child Support Owed

How do I find out if an inheritance has been paid? I'm asking this question because my kids father just inherited money from 6 different insurance policies and he owes me $36,693.82 in back child support. Is there any way I can put a freeze on his accounts until this amount is paid or can I take him to court and sue him for the entire amount. He currently pays $400/month and by the end of the year he will owe me 34,693.82. Please help me before he spends all of the money!!!!!!!

It may be possible to freeze his accounts via a child support collection proceeding in court. You should consult a local family law attorney right away. The sooner you get this done the less likely it will be that all the funds get spent.

Have you contacted the Friend of the Court about the arrearage so that they can schedule a show cause hearing and put out a warrant for him if he doesn't comply? If you need help enforcing the child support and trying to collect, please contact me.
