Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Consequences of Urinating in Public?

I was urinating on the side of a Taco Bell at 4 AM on a Sunday morning. I have a pre-trial date set for early May. I thought the ticket would be one you can just pay. I am concerned with what the possible outcomes could be. I don't want anything stupid to happen, like go on the state sex offenders list, which I heard can happen. Was that nonsense? That would be ridiculous. I had been drinking the evening, but was not driving. This is the only trouble I have been in since the 2 MIPs I received early in life. I just graduated college and have a good job, I just don't need anything stupid to happen to me.

No, you won't go on the sex offender's list for public urination. However, you may not want to have this on your easily available record as future employers may get the wrong idea of what actually happened. (Many indecent exposure charges have been plea-bargained to public urination.)

Call me and I'll advise you on how to keep your record clean. 248-680-1133

Re: Consequences of Urinating in Public?

You most likely won't go on the sex offender's registry. It depends on the charge and conviction. Please remember future employers and the like can view your criminal record and may not like what they see. We can possibly keep this off your record. Feel free to contact my office to discuss the matter further. Eric I. Kutinsky, Esq. (866) M I C H D U I

You did not indicate which county you are charged in.
