Were you charged with filing a false report? If so, I would need more information to asses your situation. There are things you can do to minimize the chances of a jail term. Contact me to discuss.

You could face a charge yourself. False Report of a Felony is a felony that carries up to 4 years in prison. False Report of a Misdemeanor is a misdemeanor that carries up to 93 days in jail. If convicted, the police agency can get restitution ordered to cover its actual expenses investigating your original claim, and possibly costs for investigating that it was actually false. If you truly lied to police and accused a man of rape, all because you were afraid of your boyfriend then (1) you need to dump that boyfriend immediately because whatever power and control he holds over you and fear you have of him is affecting your judgment; (2) you wasted countless hours of road patrol officers time, detectives time, etc. that could have been spent protecting our traveling public or investigating other crimes, (3) you need to grow up and stop acting so impulsively and selfishly. Imagine if your CSC claim was real, but your case's detective couldn't see you for days because he was investigating another case ... that turned out to have been an intentionally false report. Put yourself in the shoes of an actual victim whose justice was delayed.
