Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

probation violation in michigan.. unpaid fines

hi 5 years ago i was charged with attempted uttering and publishing, i served 61 days and 5 years probation. my po did a show cause hearing and the judge said she could put me in jail for not paying my fines off. i am on social security and i dont have alot of money between rent and bills and doctor visits and copays. but i have always paid the minumum of what the po told me to. i went and tried to do community service but it was very hard on me so for about 6 to 8 months i didnt pay towards fines, i asked the po too reinstate the payments and she did. my question is can the judge put me in prison for 5 years for not being able to pay my fines. my restitution was paid by my boyfriend when i was in jail and i have always paid what i was told to pay. the fines are , 1250.00 court cost, 88.00 attorney fees, 154.00 supervisin fees. and i just paid 69.45 when i went in for my show cause hearing. please answer fast i am so scared about going to prison.

Pay your court fines or get ready to spend time in jail, the judge can put you in jail until you pay your fines.

It's unlikely you'll be jailed.if you finish up your community service. No one is going to believe it's too hard on you unless you're on SSD. Always pay something each month. Don't wait to be told
