Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Ok so recently i went into a Mejers in michigan. I went in and got a few makeup things. Im not gonna lie, I had the intent to steal them. So one by one I put them in my purse. I also made sure I was not around any cameras whem I did it. But when I was browsing throught the towel rack, I decoded not to steal the items anymore. So as I was taking out a item, I quickly caught this lady peeping over then corner. She tried to play it off as if she was a customer but I knew she wasnt. I panicked and quickly put all the merchandise inndidferent spots in the store. So as I was walking out. The women ran in front of me like ahe was gonna stop me but she didnt. I didnt even have anything. But I noticed a man following me to me car and the women on the phone. I think the man took my lp #. I take anything so what should I expect? I also live on the other side of the state and not in the same county.

As soon as you placed the first item in your purse with the intent to steal, the crime was committed. Putting it back is not a defense. You may get lucky and they don't prosecute. If you do get contacted by the police, say nothing and hire a lawyer ASAP.

We have successfully defended shoplifting cases in Macomb county in the past. I think we can help you. Do not give the police any statement if they contact you. Instead, call our main office if you hear anything from the police. You can read more at:
