custody

I have a grandson who is 16 his parents have shared sutody in different counties at what age can he walk away from his mother and live with his father?

Parents can ask the Court to change custody arrangements, and the Court will listen to a child who is over the age of 8, but the child's wishes are just one consideration of many as to whether custody should be changed. www.altonlawfirmplc.com

At 16, the court will take the child's opinion seriously, but the child cannot just choose to walk away at 16. His father is still going to have to petition the court to change custody, otherwise mother will be able to enforce the existing custody arrangement. Once the child is 18, he can live where ever he wants
