Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My daughter was 4 when my husband and I got married. We've been married over 10 years now. Her "natural Father" has never had contact, paid any child support and is not named on the Birth Certificate. We have actually not spoken since I was 5 weeks pregnant. (his choice) . So my question is: my husband, daughter and I would like to have her last name legally changed from my maiden name to my married name. Is it possible to do that without having to contact the "Natural Father" even though there was never anything legal saying he was her father in the first place?
