Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

FOC Total Opt Out

My husband and I have filed all the papers for a uncontested divorce. We also do not want/need child support. I just found out we could do a total Opt Out for FOC services. We have a interview date with the FOC early January. We do not want/need these services. I have forms FOC101 and FOC101b and FOC102 and I believe I have to change my Default Judgement of Divorce for the final hearing. Are these forms necessary and are there any other forms that we need to fill out? Is child support manditory? Thank you for your help in this matter.

Re: FOC Total Opt Out

Child support is not mandatory. You can put language in the judgment to explain why it is not needed. However, in your quest to avoid expense, you are sure doing a lot of work. It would be easier to get an inexpensive lawyer to do the work for you. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
