Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

im a grandparent with grandparent visitation. the parents and their child have lived with us mostly the past 7 years. we have supported them the whole time and purchased EVERYTHING for the child (5 years old). both parents are substance abusers and we are trying to get them into rehab.

should we try for guardianship or custody at this time?

You would not have standing to file for custody, but you could file for guardianship. If you are that concerned about your grandchildren's wellbeing you should at least consult with a family law attorney in your area to see about filing for guardianship.
