Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

if he pays for dental & i need dental work during the divorce is he still obliga

I need to know if legally my husband is obligated to pay for my needed dental work during our divorce. Our papers were filed over 9 months ago. I had to have orthodontic work as well as bridgework. My husband had paid all bills prior to our upcoming divorce. As of yet, he refused to pay for any of it.

He is only obligated to pay for these things if there is a temporary order for spousal support while you wait for the judgement. Such relief should have been prayed for in the Complaint for Divorce.

This matter should be brought before the judge. You will need a court order to compel him to pay. You should be ready to show the necessity and urgency of the dental work and your inability to pay for it yourself. For more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.

If it was necessary and there is no dental insurance and you do not have the means to pay, the judge would most likely order him to pay part or all of the bill. You would have to appear before the judge to make it happen, however, unless he consents to it. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
