Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan

I'm on student visa. I'm clearly known that getting married have helps lots of non-us citizens to have green cards. I don't want to be suspected like that. So after my marriage license expire ( ( i applied with my ex boyfriend, never went to court to get married, we broke up ), how long should i wait to apply a new marriage license ( of course with someone else, not my ex ) that won't make my record look like i'm trying to have a sham marriage?

Applying for two marriage licenses at two different times should have no affect on a future immigration case. USCIS does not inquire as to how many times you have been engaged; only how many times you have been legally married.

I am unaware of a waiting period to file for a new marriage license, but you will need to check with the State of Michigan (County Recorder/Registrar for your area) regarding that issue.
