Can you lose the ablility to become a firefighter in Michigan if you get a mismeanor?

I believe the line is drawn at felony. However, the departments can be as choosy as they want and could deny your application because you have a misdemeanor. Expungement will not avoid this either. If you are looking at a possible misdemeanor, seek a deferred or suspended sentence in which you plead guilty but upon a successful period of probation, the charge will be dismissed.
