Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

Dividing money equally among family members

My mother died resulting from injuries that happened in a Hospital parking lot. My sister went ahead and got a lawyer. She was very sneaky from the beginning. But that is a long story....Now 5 years later there is a settlement of not quite 1/4 million $$.After the lawyers cut my sister is giving herself aprox. $57,000

each of her 3 daughters is to get $19,000 each.

I am the only other child and she is giving me only $15,000 and my son only $1,000.My mom had 3 sisters and they are each to recieve $3,3000. I am not agreeing to this amount. Now I havn't heard from her or any att.(she would not talk to me as it was)Is there anything I can do about this. I feel it is very unfair.

Re: Dividing money equally among family members

GET A LAWYER NOW!!!!!

I'd be happy to help you or to help you find someone to help, I i would stress that you should try not to bind yourself to a purely contingency fee agreement. You don't want to pay 1/3 if all you might recover, if all the atty has to do is file a few papers and make an appearance or two.

Monday 9 AM, call the judge's office on the case and let his secretary know you have a problem with the settlement and are looking for an attorney to help you...can she please let you know when the next hearing is and when you can come look at the court papers on the case. That will buy you a LITTLE time, but not long.
